Trust is one of the most important factors impacting your ROI.
There’s this thing called the economics of trust, which says trust increases speed + lowers cost = a greater impact on ROI.
Even when you have a plan, and the stakeholders are aligned, if employees have no trust in the leadership the energy for change is low, and they are cynical, protective, combative, they disengage, and they may even work to sabotage the efforts.
However, the opposite is true too, when employees trust the leadership there’s an increase in energy to get the change done. They are more cooperative and creative. When your project starts in an environment of distrust you’re already in a deficit, and you’ve got some decisions to make.
