Happy

I've liked this song since seeing the movie Despicable Me 2. If you haven't seen it yet, you should. It's such a cute movie. Gru (the super-villain) adopts the 3 little girls and finds himself a love interest.

I've since made Happy my morning anthem and dance to it like I'm the star in a Broadway show (Don't laugh. In another life I was a Broadway star). But this morning, as the song was on repeat in my car, while on my way to a meeting, I thought about how many of us can't find happiness because of the things that are currently going on in our lives, or because of our past. I too wake up discouraged sometimes or think about situations in my life that, if I ponder it for too long, it gets me down. but thankfully I know that being happy is a CHOICE.

WE have to make the choice to be happy...everyday...in spite of and instead of. Yes, everyday can be hard. At work we think the man is trying to keep us down. In relationships we think the grass is greener on the other side. We never have enough money. Kids are driving us crazy, and we're just sick and tired of being sick and tired...but even still, in the midst of it all, we can still choose to be happy. And we should because being happy changes our perspective about life, it helps us make better decisions, and most importantly, being happy is medicine for the heart.

The song in and of itself won't make you happy because, again, being happy is a daily choice that you have to decide to be. But if it'll help, play the song, turn up the volume and dance like you're the star of your own Broadway show!
